All arrangements for the conduct of this year’s Mass Wedding ceremony in Kebbi State have been concluded.
The Chairman of the Mass Wedding Main Committee, Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu, disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi during a press briefing on preparations for the event.
He said the wedding ceremony, which is the third to be organised by the present administration, will take place on the 27th of July, 2026.
According to him, the exercise will involve 300 couples drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas of the state, with the brides comprising orphans, widows and divorcees.
Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu explained that all the prospective couples had undergone the necessary screening processes in line with the committee’s guidelines.
He announced that the Kebbi State Government would pay a dowry of two hundred and fifty thousand naira for each bride and provide furniture, kitchen utensils and other household items to support the newlyweds.
The committee chairman added that one of the requirements for participation in the programme is that each groom must have a suitable place to accommodate his bride.
He further revealed that indigenous furniture makers and business owners in the state were patronised in the procurement process as part of efforts to stimulate local economic activities.
Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu said the initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden associated with marriage and improving the welfare of less privileged members of society.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kauran Gwandu administration to continue implementing programmes that support vulnerable groups across Kebbi State.
