Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has donated 100 million naira to internally displaced persons affected by bandit attacks in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area.
The governor announced the donation during a sympathy visit to the Chief of Wasagu Chiefdom, where he also pledged 10 million naira monthly to support community-based security efforts.
He promised to establish a Forward Operating Base to strengthen security operations, improve response time and prevent further attacks in Wasagu and neighbouring communities.
Governor Idris also pledged to rehabilitate the Danko Wasagu township road to improve accessibility, support security operations and boost economic activities.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security, Haliru Aliyu Wasagu, said insecurity had forced farmers to abandon their farmlands and disrupted economic and social activities.
The Chief of Wasagu, Muktar Musa, and the local government chairman, Hussaini Aliyu Bena, welcomed the interventions, urging sustained security operations and humanitarian support to enable displaced residents to return home.
