The Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum has declared full support for Governor Nasir Idris’s call for a comprehensive probe into the abduction of 25 students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Yelwa, Ajiyan Yauri, the Forum expressed deep concern over the security lapses that enabled the attack. It described the incident as a painful reminder of past tragedies, including the Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction.
The statement noted Governor Idris’s public inquiry into the reported withdrawal of soldiers from the area shortly before the attack, stressing the need for clarity and accountability.
Meanwhile, security agencies are working with the full backing of Governor Idris and the coordination of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle continue to intensify search and rescue operations.
According to the Special Adviser to Kebbi State Governor on Communication and Strategy Alhaji Abdullahi Idris, Governor Idris has also directed statewide special prayers for the safe return of the students and appealed to parents and residents to remain calm as efforts to secure their release continue.
