The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru, has called on the people of Kebbi State and Nigerians at large to embrace unity, peace, and tolerance as the year 2026 begins.
Rt. Hon. Zuru made the call in a New Year message, describing unity and peaceful coexistence as essential foundations for sustainable development and socio-economic progress.
The Speaker congratulated Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu, his Deputy, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, and the people of Kebbi State on the successful transition into the new year.
He commended citizens for their resilience and endurance in the face of challenges experienced in recent years.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Kebbi State House of Assembly to an accelerated legislative agenda focused on development across all sectors.
According to him, the Assembly will continue to enact laws and approve policies that promote growth, infrastructure development, and improved welfare for the people.
Rt. Hon. Zuru also expressed appreciation for the support given to the All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state, assuring that the government will build on existing achievements in governance, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security in 2026.
On security, the Speaker urged residents to pray for peace and stability, calling for collective efforts to address insecurity and other challenges confronting the state and the nation.
He further encouraged the people of Kebbi State to maintain harmony in their communities, stressing that unity and tolerance among all groups are vital for a peaceful and prosperous year 2026.
