The Kebbi State Government has approved the sum of ₦60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes at the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
This was disclosed at a press briefing by the Provost of the College, Hussaini Aliyu, who commended the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasiru Idris, for his visionary leadership and continued commitment to revitalising tertiary education in the state.
According to him, the accreditation process is already ongoing and nearing completion. The Provost assured that students affected by the October 17, 2024 suspension will soon be recalled once the accreditation exercise is concluded, enabling them to continue their studies and graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications.
Hussaini Aliyu further noted that Governor Nasir Idris has also approved the renovation of students’ hostels as part of the accreditation process, a move aimed at enhancing learning and research in the institution.
“The College Management, in collaboration with the Governing Council and the Ministry for Higher Education, remains fully aligned with the Governor’s educational transformation and rejuvenation vision, with a focus on quality, accessible, and institutional excellence,” the Provost stated.
He expressed appreciation for the Governor’s continued support and commitment to repositioning the College as a centre of excellence in health education and technology.
The courses to be accredited are public health, community health, environmental health, pharmacy, medical laboratory, health information management, health education and promotion, as well as nutrition.
