The Kebbi State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with the National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, to achieve shared objectives in promoting development and enhancing security across the state.
Governor Nasir Idris made this known while receiving members of the college, including participants of Course 34, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
He said his administration is committed to improving agriculture, describing Kebbi as an agrarian state with great potential for food production.
According to him, the state government has procured and distributed trucks of fertilisers, power tillers, solar pumps, improved seedlings, and herbicides to farmers free of charge, as part of efforts to boost productivity and encourage more youths to embrace farming.
On security, Governor Idris disclosed that the state government has donated about 80 vehicles to security agencies operating across the state, with plans to provide more to strengthen their operations.
He thanked the delegation for their visit and assured them of the state government’s continued support and cooperation throughout their stay in Kebbi State.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Commodore A. A. Abu, appreciated the governor for hosting the team and for the warm reception accorded to them since their arrival.
Commodore Abu explained that the team was in Kebbi to familiarise participants with the sociopolitical dynamics of the state, with a view to identifying strategies that could promote national development and strengthen security.
He added that the tour is part of the college’s objectives to expose participants to the structure and functions of governance, as well as the interplay between security and societal development.
A key highlight of the event was the exchange of souvenirs between the two parties.
