The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, has commended Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, for his performance and support for Borno indigenes residing in Kebbi State.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor and Media and and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki said the monarch made the commendation when the Kebbi State Government media team, led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, paid homage to him at his palace in Maiduguri.

He described Governor Idris as an excellent person and a leader worthy of emulation, saying the governor had demonstrated hospitality, generosity and concern for Borno indigenes in Kebbi.

The Shehu also described the traditional title of Zanan Borno conferred on Governor Nasir Idris as well deserved, noting his cordial relationship with the people and traditional institutions of Borno.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for accepting the title and disclosed that the Borno Emirate would invite him to a grand ceremony to be attended by governors, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.

The monarch further highlighted the historical ties between the Borno, Sokoto and Gwandu Emirates, while expressing concern over the devastating effects of insurgency in Borno State.

Earlier, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Information and Culture said the delegation was in Maiduguri to pay homage to the Shehu before embarking on an advocacy visit to key institutions and projects in the state.

He said the visit was part of efforts by the Kebbi State Government to strengthen collaboration with major media organisations and showcase the achievements of Governor Nasir Idris’ administration in its three years in office.

The commissioner was accompanied by senior media aides to the governor, including the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Yahaya Sarki, and other officials responsible for new media, public enlightenment, strategic communication and press affairs.
