The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the 1447 AH Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging Nigerians to promote peace, tolerance, and unity during and after the festive period.

In a goodwill message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor described Eid-el-Kabir as a season of sacrifice, faith, and obedience to Allah, calling on Muslims to emulate the virtues of Prophet Ibrahim.

“I felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Kebbi State and beyond on this blessed occasion of Eid-el-Kabir,” the governor said.

He urged Muslims to use the occasion to strengthen understanding not only among themselves but also between Muslims and non-Muslims in the interest of peaceful coexistence.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace across the state through community dialogue, support for traditional institutions, and promotion of mutual respect among all ethnic and religious groups.

The governor stated that security remains a top priority of his administration, stressing that the government would continue collaborating with security agencies and vigilante groups to protect lives and farmlands as well as restore lasting peace across the state.

On infrastructure, Governor Idris said his administration was accelerating development projects across the state through the construction of roads, bridges, rural electrification, and water supply projects aimed at improving connectivity and stimulating economic growth.

He noted that agriculture, which he described as the backbone of the state’s economy, was receiving significant government support through the distribution of free assorted fertilisers, improved farm inputs, power tillers, irrigation schemes, extension services, and market access initiatives for farmers.

The governor also highlighted achievements in the education sector, saying the administration had expanded access to quality education through the construction, renovation, and reconstruction of schools, recruitment of teachers, and distribution of learning materials.

According to him, technical and vocational education was also being strengthened to prepare children and youths for the future.

In the healthcare sector, Idris said the government was upgrading primary healthcare centres, equipping general hospitals, recruiting medical personnel, and expanding maternal and child healthcare programmes.

The governor further stated that his administration was empowering women and youths through grants, entrepreneurship training, ICT hubs, and targeted credit schemes aimed at creating jobs and unlocking their potential.

He called on residents of the state to remain law-abiding during the Sallah celebration, show compassion to the less privileged, and pray for the continued peace and prosperity of Kebbi State and Nigeria.
