El-Rufai’s Family Denies Authenticity of Viral Letter to ADC Leadership

The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media and purportedly signed by the former governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, on behalf of the family, the document, titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, was described as fabricated and not authored by El-Rufai.

According to the statement, the letter, allegedly addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded by members of the public.

“The former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, CON, wishes to alert the public that a fake letter is in circulation, purportedly signed by him and titled Urgent Message,” the statement said.

The family maintained that neither the content nor the handwriting in the document belonged to the former governor, describing it as an attempt to create confusion and division.

“The spurious letter, purportedly dated July 14, 2026, and addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, should be disregarded. Neither the poor content nor the handwriting has anything to do with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai,” the statement added.

It further alleged that the circulation of the document was the handiwork of individuals seeking to undermine El-Rufai’s political standing, describing the act as “politics by fakery” and urging the public to ignore it.

The viral letter had claimed that the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State had generated internal tensions within the party. It alleged that Ashiru failed to complete the party’s online membership registration before the April 30, 2026 deadline, which it described as a constitutional requirement, and called on the party’s national and state leadership to review the matter.

However, El-Rufai’s family insisted that the document was entirely false and reiterated its appeal to the public to disregard it.
