Federal Government Renovates 700 Rural Schools in Nigeria – NOA

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Issa Onilu, has announced that the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has renovated no fewer than 700 schools across the country. This initiative aims to provide affordable, free, and quality education to all Nigerians, particularly those in rural areas.

Onilu made this statement during the launch of a public awareness campaign on national value reorientation, social safety nets, flooding, and security in Birnin Kebbi.

Represented by Bala Musa, Director of Media and Communication at the agency’s Abuja headquarters, Onilu explained that the campaign, which will take place in all 36 states including Abuja, is designed to highlight the government’s efforts in critical areas such as education, social safety nets, and security. He emphasized the importance of adhering to safety guidelines to protect lives in the face of ongoing flash floods, noting the necessity of this awareness campaign.

Regarding education, he mentioned that the Federal Government has launched the NELFUND initiative to assist children who miss school due to poverty. He stated that hundreds of thousands of students across Nigeria are benefiting from this student loan program, ensuring that education is not only free but also accessible and affordable for all.

Onilu further emphasized that the campaign’s core mandate is to reintroduce national moral values and character reorientation, encouraging Nigerians to exhibit high-quality behavior that reflects positively on the nation, no matter where they find themselves. This initiative also aims to help citizens understand the government’s efforts to provide a decent living for them.

The launch event, held at the agency’s office in Birnin Kebbi, was attended by Kebbi State Coordinator Alhaji Nasir Karofi, representatives of the DG including Bala Musa, media professionals, and members of civil society organizations.
