Gov Idris Says Kebbi Has Achieved 80% of Campaign Promises

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State says his administration has fulfilled about 80 percent of the campaign promises made to the people.

The governor stated this while receiving a delegation from the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) on a courtesy visit to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi. He assured that the state government would continue to support the forum in achieving its objectives.

Governor Idris highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, including free education across the state, distribution of farming inputs at no cost, and preparations to commence dry season farming. He also disclosed that over 100 vehicles had been provided to security agencies, a move which has boosted security and encouraged farmers in Kebbi South to return to their farms.

Other projects include the construction and rehabilitation of more than 2,000 schools, payment of workers’ salaries, pensions, and gratuities without backlog, the completion of a state-of-the-art secretariat, and the rehabilitation of the Birnin Kebbi motor park.

On cultural promotion, the governor noted that his administration had supported major festivals such as the Gwandu Cultural Festival, Yauri Rigata Cultural festival, and Zuru Uhola, while assuring that the Argungu International Fishing and cultural Festival would hold next year.

In his remarks, Chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, Alhaji Dalhatu Wazirin Dutse, explained that the visit was to brief the governor on the forum’s activities and solicit support. He commended the governor for his leadership and commitment to development, particularly in security and infrastructure.

Also speaking, ACF Chairman, Chief Mamman Mike Osuman (SAN), urged northern governors to prioritize the challenges facing the region. He expressed satisfaction with Kebbi’s efforts on security and thanked the governor for his support to the state branch of the forum.

Highlights of the visit included the exchange of souvenirs, prayers, and a minute silence in honour of late leaders, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Emir of Zuru, Muhammadu Sani Sami, Chief Audu Ogbeh, and Alhaji Aminu Dandata.
