Kebbi State House of Assembly Passes first and second readings of the Revised 2025 Appropriation Bill

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed the first and second readings of the Revised 2025 Appropriation Bill.

During plenary, the Speaker of the House Mohammed Usman Zuru, committed the bill to the joint committees on Finance and Appropriation, as well as Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning, and Due Process for further legislative action.

In a letter to the Assembly, which was read by the Speaker, Governor Nasir Idris explained that the revised budget, earlier approved by the State Executive Council, represents more than routine adjustments.

He said the changes reflect a realignment of fiscal priorities to address emerging challenges and urgent needs of citizens.

Governor Idris stressed that the revision is designed to ensure prudent use of public resources while accelerating development.

He urged the Assembly to grant the bill expeditious consideration to avoid delays in service delivery and ongoing projects.

Similarly, the House also passed the first and second readings of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) for 2026 to 2028.

The framework is based on key national economic assumptions, including an oil benchmark price of 55 US dollars per barrel, production of 1.7 million barrels per day, an exchange rate of ₦1,527.25 to the dollar, among others.

The speaker Muhammad Usman Zuru further urged the committees concerned to ensure speedy legislative action on both bills for timely passage.
