Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor made the declaration in a statewide broadcast on Thursday, February 27, 2026, describing the move as a decision taken in the overall best interest of the people of Adamawa State.
Fintiri revealed that the 21 local government chairmen in the state, members of the State Executive Council, and other key political stakeholders have resolved to join him in leaving the PDP for the APC.
He explained that aligning with the ruling party at the federal level would position Adamawa State to attract greater developmental projects and additional benefits for its citizens.
The governor called on residents of the state to rally behind the decision, expressing confidence that the new political alignment would accelerate growth and progress across Adamawa.
