The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has debunked a social media report alleging that his administration engaged a foreign security firm to combat the Lakurawa terrorists in the state.
Speaking at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, while receiving a delegation led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, Governor Idris described the report as false, misleading, and intended to discredit his administration.
The governor reaffirmed his confidence in Nigeria’s security formations, stressing that he has no reason whatsoever to seek foreign assistance in securing the state.
Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the Chief of Defence Staff for deploying additional Armoured Personnel Carriers to Kebbi State and for the recent deployment of the 8 Division Tactical Squad led by Colonel Hussaini Rabiu Toro.
He also appreciated all security personnel working tirelessly to keep the state safe and pledged his administration’s continuous support to the security agencies to achieve lasting peace.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, lauded Governor Idris for his consistent support to the security agencies, which, he said, includes the provision of drones, vehicles, motorcycles, and other logistics support.
General Musa assured the governor of the military’s commitment to flushing out criminals and restoring peace across the state and the country at large.
He also commended the governor for the infrastructural transformation of the state capital and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information for prompt response.
