Governor Namadi Pledges Sustained Support for Radio Nigeria Kaduna

Governor Umar Namadi has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining support for Radio Nigeria Kaduna, describing the partnership between the Jigawa State Government and the media organisation as essential for effective public communication and grassroots engagement.

The Governor gave the assurance when he received the Acting Zonal Director of the station, Malam Lawal Ali Garba, and members of his management team during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Dutse.

Welcoming the delegation, Namadi described Radio Nigeria Kaduna as a formidable institution in Nigeria’s media landscape, noting that its wide coverage and strong grassroots presence make it a strategic platform for reaching citizens across communities.

He thanked the management for recognising what he termed his administration’s modest achievements and for presenting him with a commemorative plaque.

“I want to sincerely appreciate your recognition of our modest achievements in the governance of Jigawa State. Your commendation and the presentation of this plaque will further motivate us to do more for our people,” the Governor said.

He stressed that despite the rise of social media, radio remains a critical tool for disseminating government policies and programmes, particularly in northern Nigeria where it continues to command significant listenership.

Namadi assured the delegation that the state government would continue to strengthen its collaboration with the station in the interest of the general public.

Earlier, the Acting Zonal Director, Malam Lawal Ali Garba, said the visit was aimed at consolidating the existing relationship between the Jigawa State Government and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

He conveyed the appreciation of the Director-General of FRCN, Dr. Mohammad Bulama, for the consistent support the corporation has received from the state government.

Garba commended Governor Namadi for strides recorded in education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and civil service welfare. He cited the administration’s investment of over ₦8 billion in scholarships in the 2025 fiscal year under the Danmodi Students Care Programme, benefiting nearly 35,000 students.

He also acknowledged the implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage for state workers, recruitment of health personnel, revitalisation of free healthcare services for children and pregnant women, as well as agricultural reforms and infrastructural development across the state.

The Acting Zonal Director further praised the prevailing peace and security in Jigawa and the Governor’s citizen engagement initiative, “Gwamnati da Jama’a,” which received extensive coverage on Radio Nigeria platforms.

The visit culminated in the presentation of a plaque to Governor Namadi in recognition of his contributions to the development of Jigawa State.
