The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Suleman Mamuda, for allegedly killing his wife, Umaima Maidawa, 25, in Bayawa Village, Augie Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police, the incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on January 13, when the suspect allegedly used the wooden handle of a hoe to strike his wife, leading to her death.
Police sources said the suspect fled the area after the incident but was later traced and arrested following investigations and credible information provided by members of the community.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Umar Mohammed Hadejia, psc, MNIM, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
The Police Command appealed to members of the public to promptly report criminal incidents and continue to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to enhance peace and security across the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
