IGP Deploys 13 Armoured Vehicles to Kebbi State

The Nigeria Police Force has handed over thirteen armoured operational vehicles to the Kebbi State Government to strengthen security operations and reinforce the ongoing fight against banditry and other crimes in the state.

 

Presenting the vehicles at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, said the deployment was approved by the Force Headquarters in Abuja on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police. He explained that the gesture was in recognition of Governor Nasir Idris’ consistent support and cooperation with security agencies operating in the state.

According to CP Bello Sani, the vehicles were delivered in two batches. The first batch includes six armoured operational vehicles and one truck, which have been permanently assigned to the Kebbi State Police Command. The second batch comprises six fully armoured Special Intervention Squad (SIS) vehicles designated for special operations across the state.

 

He noted that the armoured vehicles would significantly enhance police operational capacity, particularly in volatile and hard-to-reach areas, thereby improving overall security and public safety in Kebbi State.

 

Responding, Governor Nasir Idris expressed gratitude to Almighty God and commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising the security of lives and property in Kebbi State. He described the vehicles as timely and well-suited for deployment to security flashpoints, adding that their delivery reflects the fulfillment of President Tinubu’s directives to strengthen internal security.

 

The governor also praised the Nigeria Police, the military, and other security agencies for their prompt and coordinated responses to security challenges, noting that their collective efforts have contributed to the gradual return of peace across the state.

 

Governor Idris assured that the Kebbi State Government would continue to provide necessary support to all security agencies to enable them to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
