Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reaffirmed that capacity building for civil servants remains a major priority of his administration, as part of efforts to improve efficiency and service delivery in the state.
The governor stated this in Birnin Kebbi while declaring open a 10-day training programme for 2,000 Intermediary Civil Servants on e-Governance Migration for Effective Service Delivery, organized by the Kebbi State Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy.
Governor Idris said his administration was committed to creating a conducive working environment for civil servants, noting that the completion of the ultra-modern State Secretariat was aimed at enhancing workers’ productivity and efficiency.
He directed the Secretary to the State Government and the Head of Service to commence arrangements for the installation of solar power at the Secretariat to ensure steady electricity supply.
The governor also disclosed that over 5,000 workers had been recruited under his administration, while salaries and other entitlements were being paid promptly.
According to him, the state government has also approved and implemented the new national minimum wage for workers in the state.
Governor Nasir Idris commended civil servants for their continued support and cooperation with his administration and urged them to sustain the momentum, assuring that government would continue to improve their welfare and working conditions.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Mohammed Sakaba, said the workshop was designed to equip civil servants with modern e-governance strategies and transform the public service from conventional methods to digital operations.
He appreciated Governor Idris for approving the training programme, which he described as vital to improving the use of digital technology in government business activities.
Also speaking, the Head of Service, TPL Malami Shekare, said the theme of the workshop, “e-Governance Migration for Effective Service Delivery,” was aimed at enhancing the digital knowledge of civil servants and empowering the workforce with the necessary tools for efficient service delivery.
He thanked the governor for his continuous support to the state civil service.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Governor Nasir Idris by the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy in recognition of his commitment to digital transformation in Kebbi State, as well as a digital presentation on the overview of the workshop.
