Kebbi Assembly Begins One-Month Recess, to Resume August 11

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has commenced a one-month legislative recess, temporarily suspending plenary sittings until Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

The decision was announced by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Salihu Maikasuwa Dangoje, during Wednesday’s plenary session held at the Assembly Complex in Birnin Kebbi.

The recess followed the adoption of a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Hon. Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega, seeking the suspension of legislative activities for one month.

The motion was seconded by Hon. Faruku Abubakar Maisudan and received unanimous approval from members of the House before the Speaker formally adjourned plenary.

Addressing lawmakers before the adjournment, Speaker Dangoje urged members to make productive use of the recess by returning to their constituencies to interact closely with the people and identify challenges affecting their communities.

He encouraged the legislators to gather useful feedback and concerns from their constituents to guide deliberations and legislative actions when the Assembly reconvenes.

The one-month break forms part of the House’s legislative calendar and is intended to provide members with adequate time for constituency engagements ahead of the commencement of a new legislative session on August 11, 2026.
