The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed a resolution clearing the Chairman of Maiyama Local Government Council, Honorable Adamu Aliyu Liba, of all allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him.
The resolution followed the presentation of a fact-finding report by the House Committee on Public Petitions, chaired by Honorable Muhammad Sani Garba Tiggi, during Wednesday’s plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Honorable Mohammed Usman Zuru.
According to the committee, the House had earlier received a petition from the Maiyama Local Government Progressive Union alleging misconduct against the council chairman.
The committee subsequently conducted a comprehensive investigation, inviting all relevant stakeholders, including government officials, market leaders, petitioners, and officials of Maiyama Local Government, to ensure fairness and transparency.
Presenting the House resolution, Speaker Mohammed Usman Zuru stated that the Assembly found no wrongdoing in the allocation of shops at Dadin Kowa Market, noting that Honorable Adamu Aliyu Liba acted within his legal and administrative authority.
The House also confirmed that the electrification project from Maiyama to Andarai was completed one hundred percent, and dismissed claims of fund diversion as unfounded.
On the issue of an eighteen-seater bus belonging to the local government, the Assembly established that the vehicle was borrowed by a political group, the TKT Support Group, and directed that it be returned to Maiyama Local Government immediately.
Regarding the auction of two heavy-duty caterpillars and a fill-loader, the House confirmed that due process was followed, with all necessary approvals obtained from the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The Assembly further directed the immediate reinstatement of the suspended Village Head of Karaye, Alhaji Ibrahim Magajin Karaye, with a copy of the reinstatement letter to be forwarded to the House.
In addition, the House advised the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, to engage all Maiyama stakeholders to restore peace and harmony, and to take firm action against any faction undermining stability in the area.
The Kebbi State House of Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to justice, accountability, and good governance, and urged all parties to respect the resolution in the interest of peace and development.
