Kebbi Police Crack Down On Border Rustling Arraign Four Suspects

The Kebbi State Police Command has arraigned four suspects over a cattle rustling incident that occurred in villages along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border, reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi by the Police Public Relations
Officer of the Command, SP Bashir Usman, said the arrest and arraignment followed swift, intelligence-driven operations carried out by officers of the Command.

According to the statement, on the 9th of December, 2025, at about eleven p.m., unknown armed and masked men attacked border communities and made away with about thirty-four cows, sparking fear and concern among” residents of the affected areas.

He explained that acting on credible intelligence, Police operatives from the Dolekaina Division, working in collaboration with the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, launched a coordinated crack-down operation.

The operation led to the recovery of thirteen of the stolen cows and the arrest of four suspects identified as Bilyaminu Aliyu, Bashar Umar, Zaharaddeen Abdullahi, and Basiru Umar, also known as Haji Yaro.

The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani has commended the professionalism and efficiency of the officers involved and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to recover the remaining livestock and apprehend other suspects connected to the crime.
