The Kebbi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Muhammad Hamidu Jarkuka, has praised the North East Youth Initiative for Development (NEYIP) for its commitment to raising public awareness on disaster management and risk reduction in Kebbi State.
Hon. Hamidu Jarkuka made the remarks during a five-day capacity training for emergency responders held in Birnin Kebbi, themed “Building Safer Communities Through Inclusive Preparedness, Risk Education and Lifesaving Response Skills.”
Represented by the Director of Planning, Alhaji Hamza Yeldu, the Commissioner thanked the organizers for choosing Kebbi State for the event.
The workshop brought together stakeholders from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to equip participants with skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively during emergencies.
In his speech, the Commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Kebbi State Command, CC Kabiru Abubakar Alkamawa, urged participants to be good ambassadors by applying their newly acquired emergency response skills.
Represented by SC Mohammed Z Bawa, the Commandant expressed admiration for the dedication of both organizers and participants and encouraged them to maintain their commitment.
The initiative reflects NEYIP’s dedication to building capacity in disaster risk reduction, first aid, and lifesaving response skills.
Highlights of the event included presentations and practical sessions on community-based disaster risk reduction, first aid, and other techniques.
