Kebbi Government Reaffirms Strong Support for Security Agencies

The Kebbi State Government has restated its unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies in their fight against banditry and insurgency across the state.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi, gave the assurance on Friday when he received the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Isma’il Gusau, on a courtesy visit in Birnin Kebbi.

He said Governor Dr. Nasir Idris has, since assuming office two years ago, consistently provided logistics, allowances, and intelligence support to security forces. According to him, the government will continue to strengthen its assistance to ensure further successes in the battle against criminal elements.

The Commissioner also urged the Defence Headquarters to convene a town hall meeting involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, youth groups, and other stakeholders, saying such an initiative would improve synergy, enhance intelligence gathering, and boost the effectiveness of security operations. He further pledged his Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the Defence Information Department to facilitate the meeting.

Earlier, Brigadier General Gusau said his visit was aimed at assessing the impact of collaborations between the military and media organizations in promoting Army–civil relations in Kebbi State and the wider North West. He emphasized the importance of community partnership in sustaining security operations.

The Defence spokesperson commended Governor Idris for his continued support to the military, noting that the assistance has been instrumental to the successes recorded in restoring peace to affected communities. He also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to the Kebbi State Government for its commitment to peace and security in the state and region.
