Kebbi Governor Donates N100m to Support Women Group

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has reiterated his administration’s resolve to sustain support for women, emphasizing efforts aimed at enhancing their economic well-being and overall quality of life.

The governor stated this during the official launch of a women’s support group, Mu Gudu Tare, Mu Tsira Tare, held in Birnin Kebbi.

He commended women in the state for their overwhelming support during the 2023 general elections, noting that their votes played a significant role in his emergence as governor. As part of his administration’s commitment to women’s development, Governor Idris announced a donation of N100 million to the group and pledged to roll out more empowerment programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of women across Kebbi State.

He also urged donors and well-wishers present at the event to fulfil their pledges to ensure the success of the initiative.

Earlier in her remarks, Salma Farisa, described Mu Gudu Tare, Mu Tsira Tare as a non-partisan platform established to promote the welfare and interests of women in the state. She said the group is open to supporting any candidate who prioritises women’s issues ahead of the 2027 elections.

Salma Farisa further appealed to the state government to ensure that all forms of assistance reach the intended beneficiaries.

Also speaking, Aisha Gunabi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader in the state, expressed appreciation to the governor’s wives for their various empowerment initiatives. She encouraged beneficiaries to reciprocate the government’s support by backing the APC in the 2027 elections and urged women to engage in productive ventures to achieve self-reliance.

In addition to the governor’s donation, National Assembly members, government officials, and other political stakeholders contributed over N100 million, alongside items such as two vehicles, deep freezers, grinding machines, and bundles of wrappers to support women across the state.

The event drew a large turnout of women and stakeholders, underscoring growing efforts to enhance women’s participation in both economic and political activities in Kebbi State.
