The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two men in separate cases of child defilement in Zuru and Birnin Kebbi.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Monday, September 8, 2025, stressing that the Command remains committed to tackling child abuse, exploitation, and all forms of gender-based violence.
According to the statement, on August 27, 2025, a 10-year-old girl, Vina Shehu of Bedi, Zuru Local Government Area, was allegedly lured into a room by one Amos Jondo Maliki, who had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
In another incident, on September 6, 2025, a 5-year-old girl, Nana A’isha Aminu Wala of Goribbu area, Birnin Kebbi, was reportedly lured into a shop by 48-year-old Mansuru Sani, who allegedly inserted his finger into her private parts when she went there to buy sweets.
CSP Abubakar disclosed that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, concluded discreet investigations, after which both suspects were arraigned in court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the incidents and commended the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr. Junaidu Bello Marshall, for his swift response in ensuring diligent prosecution of gender-based violence cases.
While assuring residents of the Command’s determination to protect vulnerable members of society, the CP reiterated a zero-tolerance stance against child exploitation and abuse. He also urged parents to closely monitor their children’s movements and promptly report cases of gender-based violence to the nearest police station.
