Army to Conduct Live Ammunition Exercise in Birnin Kebbi, Residents Advised Not to Panic

The Nigerian Army has announced plans to conduct a range classification exercise involving live ammunition for troops of the 8 Division Superhighway Task Force Battalion Phase II in Birnin Kebbi.

According to a notification from the Commanding Officer, the exercise will take place from October 14 to 15, 2025, at the Battalion Shooting Range, located eight kilometers off the Birnin Kebbi–Jega road. The training will run daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The statement, signed by Lieutenant A.H. Mohammed on behalf of the Commanding Officer, explained that the exercise is part of the army’s regular training program to enhance troops’ operational readiness.

Residents and motorists in the surrounding areas have been advised to stay away from the general vicinity of the shooting range during the exercise and not to panic on hearing the sound of gunfire.

The army also appealed to media outlets to help disseminate the information in English and local languages to ensure public awareness and safety.

Lieutenant Mohammed expressed appreciation to the public for their usual cooperation and understanding.
