The Emir of Zuru, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami, Gomo III, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalil Aliyu.
In separate condolence messages contained in a statement signed by Hon. Abdullahi Idris, Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to the Kebbi State Governor, the Emir conveyed his sympathies to the Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, and to the Emir of Yauri, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu Abdullahi. The Emir described the late Matawallen Yauri as an irreplaceable loss.
He praised Aliyu’s distinguished record of public service, which spanned the Northern Nigerian administration, the former North Western State, old Sokoto State, and Kebbi State.
The Emir recalled that the deceased was a thoroughly trained and experienced bureaucrat, and later a principled politician who worked to promote harmony among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
Alhaji Ibrahim Khalil Aliyu rose to the position of Permanent Secretary in old Sokoto State, served as the pioneer Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, represented Kebbi at the National Population Commission, and was Deputy Governor of Kebbi State in 2007.
A native of Ngaski Local Government Area, the late Matawallen Yauri died at the age of 80 at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, following a protracted illness.
The Emir prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant his family fortitude, and admit him into Aljannatul Firdaus.
