The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the swift rescue of the female students abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government expressed deep concern over the incident and conveyed solidarity with the families of the abducted students, assuring them that all efforts are being deployed to secure the girls’ safe return.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, restated that safeguarding the lives of all citizens particularly school children remains a solemn and non-negotiable duty of the State.
He strongly condemned the attack on the school and the killing of staff members who were carrying out their lawful responsibilities.
According to the Minister, security and intelligence agencies have been directed to immediately locate and rescue the students, and to ensure that those responsible are arrested and brought to justice, stressing that the Federal Government will not relent until the mission is fully accomplished.
The government also reaffirmed that strengthening internal security remains a top national priority. Efforts are underway to recalibrate the country’s military, policing, and intelligence architecture to better prevent attacks and enhance rapid response to emerging threats.
Nigeria, the statement added, is deepening collaboration with regional partners, including ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force, to secure national borders and dismantle terrorist and criminal networks.
The Federal Government urged citizens to remain calm, assuring them that every necessary measure is being taken to address the situation.
