The Kebbi State Government has distributed 340 brand new laptops to students of the state currently studying in India as part of efforts to enhance their academic performance.
The distribution ceremony took place on Friday at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, during a colourful event attended by students, university officials, and representatives of the Kebbi State Government.
Governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, was represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Hon. Shafiu Zauro.
In his remarks, the Governor said the gesture reflected his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and educational advancement of Kebbi students studying both at home and abroad.
“This intervention by the education-friendly Governor is part of his continuous effort to support and motivate Kebbi students abroad. As everyone knows, Governor Idris has fully settled the tuition and scholarship fees of all our students in tertiary institutions both within and outside Nigeria,”
He added that, as a former classroom teacher and unionist, the he remained passionate about transforming the education sector through practical initiatives aimed at equipping students with essential learning tools.
Governor Nasir Idris urged the students to be good ambassadors of Kebbi State and Nigeria by excelling in their studies and maintaining high moral standards.
Officials of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University commended Governor Idris for his consistent support and care for Kebbi students, describing the gesture as exemplary and impactful.
It will be recalled that since assuming office in 2023, Governor Idris has sustained the payment of tuition and scholarship fees for Kebbi students in Nigeria and abroad. He has also approved the payment of WAEC examination fees for secondary school students across the state.
