Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command in Kamba Division have neutralized three suspected Lakurawa bandits and recovered a motorcycle during a fierce gun battle in Dandi Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the incident occurred on Friday, 3rd October 2025, at about 12:45 p.m. following credible intelligence that the armed gang had invaded Gorun Yamma village.

On receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Kamba, SP Mohd Bello Lawal, swiftly mobilized a combined team of police operatives and vigilantes to the scene. The security team engaged the bandits in a prolonged exchange of gunfire, leading to the death of three suspected members of the gang. Several others reportedly fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.
One unregistered red Honda motorcycle, locally nicknamed “Boko Haram,” was recovered as an exhibit from the scene.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the DPO and his men for their bravery, diligence, and swift response, which thwarted the bandits’ mission. He urged the team to sustain the synergy with vigilantes and other security agencies to counter the activities of the emerging Lakurawa terror group.
CP Sani further directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for discreet investigation. He reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while appealing to the public to support security operations by reporting suspicious movements or persons to the nearest police station.
