Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has congratulated General Christopher Musa on his appointment as Nigeria’s new Minister of Defence, expressing strong confidence in his competence, professionalism, and patriotism to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Governor Idris described General Musa as a well-trained, highly experienced officer whose commitment to peace and democratic governance has been evident throughout his career.
The Governor recalled the retired General’s key role in preventing armed bandits from gaining a foothold in Kebbi State, alongside his consistent moral and strategic support to security agencies operating across the state.
Governor Idris noted that General Musa’s guidance and encouragement strengthened his administration’s resolve to continue providing logistics and financial support to security operatives combating banditry in Kebbi.
He prayed for God’s guidance upon the new Minister of Defence and appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to extend all necessary support to enable General Musa succeed.
The Governor also reaffirmed the readiness of the government and people of Kebbi State to sustain regular prayers for the Minister’s success and for lasting peace across the region.
General Christopher Musa, who served as Nigeria’s 18th Chief of Defence Staff from June 2023 to October 2025, is a recipient of the 2012 Colin Powell Award for Soldiering. His nomination as Minister of Defence was confirmed by the Senate on December 3, 2025.
