The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill totalling 642 billion naira, as presented by Governor Nasir Idris.
The passage followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman of the Joint House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, and Budget Monitoring and Due Process, Honourable Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri.
Hon Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri said the committee engaged extensively with all ministries, departments and agencies to gather inputs and ensure the budget reflects the needs and aspirations of Kebbi residents.
He noted that, for the first time, capital expenditure accounts for 75 percent of the total budget, while recurrent expenditure has been reduced to 25 percent, signalling a shift toward development-focused spending.
Hon Adamu Birnin Yauri explained that under budget, the Ministry of Works receives over 39 billion naira to complete ongoing projects and undertake new ones, while the Ministry of Health is allocated 45 billion naira to strengthen healthcare delivery.
He added that in recognition of the administration’s commitment to improving security, 20 billion naira has been earmarked for the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.
Presiding over the plenary, the Speaker, Mohammed Usman Zuru, commended the committee for its thorough scrutiny of the budget and its swift passage.
