Governor Nasir Idris Bids Farewell to First Batch of Kebbi Pilgrims for 2026 Hajj

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has bid farewell to the first batch of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The pilgrims, drawn from Aliero, Koko/Besse, Bunza and Kalgo Local Government Areas, were officially seen off at the Permanent Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi alongside officials of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.

Addressing the pilgrims, Governor Nasir Idris thanked Almighty Allah for granting them the opportunity to perform Hajj and urged them to be good ambassadors of Kebbi State and Nigeria while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Governor assured the pilgrims of improved welfare arrangements, including better accommodation, feeding and locations closer to the Haram.

He said his administration remained committed to ensuring the comfort and dignity of all pilgrims, adding that no pilgrim from Kebbi State would be allowed to experience hardship during the exercise.

Governor Idris also disclosed that the state government had sustained support for pilgrims through sponsorship of Hadaya and free transportation for Ziyarah to historical Islamic sites in Madinah.

He called on the intending pilgrims to pray for peace, stability and progress in Kebbi State and Nigeria, especially during prayers at Arafat.

The Governor further urged them to strictly comply with the rules and regulations of Saudi Arabia, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.

Earlier, Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruk Musa Yaro, commended Governor Idris for his continued support to pilgrims, particularly in the areas of feeding, accommodation and welfare.

He announced that all Kebbi pilgrims would be airlifted directly to Madinah through Flynas airline, assuring that adequate arrangements had been made for a smooth Hajj operation.

Also speaking, the Amirul Hajj for Kebbi State, Alhaji Ahmad Jafar Jega, pledged the readiness of the delegation to work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety and welfare of pilgrims throughout the exercise.

The first batch of pilgrims is expected to depart Birnin Kebbi for Madinah on Sunday.
