The Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Nafisa Nasir Idris, has launched the second round of the 2025 Maternal Newborn and Child Health Week in Kardi, Birnin Kebbi Local Government.
Speaking at the event, Hajiya Nafisa said the week is aimed at educating mothers on improving their own health and that of their children. She urged women to take full advantage of government health services and commended health workers and development partners for their commitment.
The Commissioner for Health, Sama’ila Yakubu Augie, described the health week as a key strategy to enhance the survival of mothers and children through essential and cost-effective interventions. He commended Governor Nasir Idris and the Governor’s wife for their strong support to the health sector.
The Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Pharmacist Muhammad Yauri, explained that the programme provides integrated health and nutrition services across all twenty-one local government areas.
Development partners, including NPHCDA, UNICEF, WHO, GAIN and the NANAS Foundation, praised the government for prioritizing the health and well-being of women and children.
Highlights of the event distribution of ₦10,000 cash support and delivery kits to 500 women.
Earlier, Hajiya. Nafisa Nasir Idris paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Kardi, Alhaji Ahmad Fodio, to seek royal blessings.
