The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, has charged senior officers of the Command to uphold professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights while carrying out their duties, especially in the enforcement of the tinted glass permit.
The Police Commissioner gave the directive on Thursday during a high-level strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders at the State Headquarters, Gwadangaji, Birnin Kebbi.
The meeting, according to him, was aimed at reviewing the state’s security architecture, assessing achievements, and mapping out new strategies to tackle emerging security challenges.
CP Sani cautioned officers against misconduct such as extortion, unlawful detention of suspects, incivility to members of the public, illegal duties, and interference in land disputes. He stressed that professionalism and civility remain vital in sustaining public trust and effective policing.
He further directed senior officers to strengthen community engagement through regular stakeholders’ meetings, enhance community policing strategies, embrace intelligence-led policing, and increase visibility patrols. He also underscored the importance of training and retraining officers to meet current security demands.
Commending the dedication and bravery of officers and men of the Command, CP Sani praised their role in sustaining peace and security across Kebbi State. He assured residents of the Command’s resolve to safeguard lives and property, urging them to support the police by reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens.
