Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦642.9 billion into law, weeks after its presentation to the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
The governor assented to the bill at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, commending members of the Assembly for the timely scrutiny and swift passage of the budget. He assured the lawmakers of his administration’s commitment to the strict and transparent implementation of the approved estimates.
A breakdown of the budget shows that ₦163.57 billion, representing 25 per cent of the total allocation, is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while ₦479.36 billion, accounting for 75 per cent, is allocated to capital projects.
Governor Idris, who described the 2026 Appropriation as the “Budget of Transformation and People’s Empowerment,” said the budget prioritises critical sectors of development. He disclosed that ₦3 billion has been set aside for the state’s security trust fund, ₦30 billion for the construction of the Koko–Mahuta–Dabai road, and sustained funding for students’ scholarship programmes.
The governor also lauded the cordial working relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government, urging House committees to diligently carry out their oversight functions to ensure full implementation of the budget.
Earlier, while presenting the appropriation bill for assent, the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Muhammad Usman Zuru, described the signing of the 2026 budget as a significant milestone in the state’s democratic and developmental journey.
