The Kebbi State Government has taken decisive action to protect citizens in Maiyama Local Government Area following persistent bandit attacks.
Governor Nasir Idris has approved the full relocation of Arausaya community to a safer settlement along the roadside in Kwarikwasa.
Announcing the move, the Chairman of Maiyama Local Government Alh Adamu Aliyu Liba said the decision became necessary after repeated assaults by bandits resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property.
He added that the new location in Kwarikwasa will offer improved security and easier access for emergency response.
Alh Adamu Aliyu Liba also disclosed that Governor Idris has approved over 116 million naira for ten urgent infrastructural projects.
These include the renovation and conversion of classroom blocks into two- and three-bedroom apartments, the drilling of solar-powered boreholes, and the construction of public toilets.
Contractors have been directed to complete all works within three weeks.
Meanwhile, the councilor representing Arausaya community has expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Idris and the LGA Chairman, describing the intervention as timely, compassionate, and life-saving.
