Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing his decision to the ongoing crisis within the party’s national leadership.
In a letter dated November 4, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede, Governor Adeleke said the internal crisis had made it untenable for him to continue as a member of the party.
“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the People’s Democratic Party with immediate effect,” he stated.
Adeleke expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided for his political rise, recalling his election as Senator representing Osun West and later as Governor of Osun State on the party’s ticket.
“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator…and as Governor of Osun State,” he wrote.
The letter was acknowledged by the PDP Ward Chairman, Saka Kamoldeen Alamu, who confirmed receipt of the original copy on November 4, 2025.
Governor Adeleke’s resignation marks a major political development in Osun State and deepens the uncertainty already surrounding the future of the PDP amid widening internal divisions.
