The Kebbi State Police Command has announced the neutralisation of a suspected Lakurawa bandit during a gun duel in Malan Yaro village, Dandi Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on 25th November 2025 at about 5:26 a.m., when armed men believed to be Lakurawa bandits invaded the village. Upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kamba mobilised a combined team of police personnel and vigilante operatives to the scene.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the security team trailed the attackers and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire that lasted for hours.
“One of the bandits was neutralised while others escaped into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds. Two motorcycles belonging to the bandits were recovered, and the body of the deceased suspect has been deposited at the General Hospital, Kamba, for autopsy,” he said.
He added that additional police operatives, military personnel, and local vigilantes have been deployed to the area to forestall possible reprisals and intensify efforts to curb banditry and other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the DPO Kamba and operatives involved in the operation for their gallantry and professionalism. He urged them to sustain the synergy with other security agencies in the ongoing fight against crime.
The command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation aimed at uncovering the gang’s modus operandi and preventing future attacks.
