NOA Kebbi Calls for Stronger HIV Prevention and End to Stigma on World AIDS Day

The National Orientation Agency, NOA Kebbi State Directorate, has joined the global community in marking World AIDS Day with a renewed call for residents to strengthen HIV prevention practices and end stigma against people living with HIV/AIDS.

In a statement issued to newsmen by the Assistant Director, Media and Communication, Larai Saminu Nazo, in Birnin Kebbi, the Agency said that despite progress in treatment and care, the fight against HIV/AIDS remains a pressing public health concern.

The statement quoted the State Director Alh Nasiru Karofi as urging the public to intensify preventive practices such as regular testing, voluntary counselling, and consistent use of protective measures, especially among vulnerable groups including youths and women.

The Director also identified stigma and discrimination as major barriers to effective HIV response, noting that fear of judgment discourages many from accessing care or adhering to treatment.
He appealed to religious leaders, community heads, and residents of Kebbi State to promote empathy, confidentiality and equal support for people living with HIV/AIDS.

The NOA Kebbi Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to sustained public enlightenment across all local government areas, using community platforms to disseminate accurate information on HIV prevention and modern treatment options.
