The Kebbi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with development partners to enhance service delivery and improve the wellbeing of its citizens.
Governor Nasir Idris gave the assurance while receiving a joint delegation from UNICEF, the World Health Organization, and the United Nations Development Programme at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He stated that his administration remains dedicated to the full implementation of agreed policies and programmes, aimed at achieving meaningful and sustainable results across key sectors, particularly healthcare.
The Governor also pledged to sustain an enabling environment that will allow development agencies to operate effectively and deliver on their mandates.
Expressing appreciation on behalf of the people of the state, Governor Idris commended the partners for their continued support and collaborative efforts in addressing critical development challenges.
He revealed that the state government has so far enrolled 45,000 vulnerable persons into its health insurance scheme, while acknowledging UNICEF’s additional support in enrolling 15,000 beneficiaries.
In their separate remarks, representatives of the development partners, including UNICEF Country Representative Wafah Said, WHO representative Dr. Pavel Oso, and UNDP Northwest Head Ashraf Usman, applauded the Kebbi State Government for its progress in the health sector.
They emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the state in achieving improved health outcomes and broader development goals.
UNICEF has handed over 45 operational motorcycles to the state government to support primary healthcare centres across the state.
