Michael Carrick has been appointed as Manchester United’s caretaker manager until the end of the season, with an official announcement from the club expected shortly.
The development was confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who disclosed that an agreement had been reached since Monday and has now been fully finalised, including arrangements for Carrick’s backroom staff.
“Michael Carrick signs in as new Manchester United caretaker manager until the end of the season. Verbal agreement since yesterday, now sorted in all details + backroom staff also. #MUFC official announcement to follow next,” Romano wrote on X.
Carrick, a former Manchester United midfielder and member of the club’s coaching staff in previous years, returns to the Old Trafford dugout at a critical point in the season. The club is seeking stability and improved results as it pushes for a strong finish to the campaign.
The appointment marks Carrick’s latest managerial role at United, where he previously served briefly in an interim capacity and remains a respected figure among players and fans alike.
