The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is set to train 1,077 unskilled and unemployed youths in Kebbi State as part of the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI 2).
This was disclosed by the Director General of the NDE, Dr. Silas Ali Agara, during the official flag-off ceremony held in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
Dr. Agara was represented by the acting NDE Coordinator in Kebbi State, Alhaji Salihu Aliyu Gamagira.
According to Dr. Agara, the initiative aims to empower a total of 41,307 individuals across the country in over 30 skill areas, including vocational trades, entrepreneurship, information and communication technology (ICT), and public works-related activities.
He further stated that 14,457 beneficiaries will receive starter packs at the end of their training to enable them to establish businesses in their respective fields.
Also speaking at the event, the Kebbi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Nura Bala Fingila, urged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the program as a means to combat poverty and improve their livelihoods.
