NIMC NIN Enrolment Hits 127 Million Nationwide

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has recorded a total of 127 million Nigerians on its National Identification Number (NIN) database as of December 2025.

 

NIMC spokesperson, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, disclosed the figure while responding to enquiries on the latest status of NIN enrolment across the country. He said a detailed breakdown of the enrolment figures by states and regions would soon be uploaded on the commission’s official website.

 

Adegoke encouraged Nigerians who are yet to enrol, as well as those seeking to update or correct their personal information, to take advantage of the commission’s various digital platforms.

 

Data obtained from NIMC’s website showed that as of October 31, 2025, total enrolment stood at 123.9 million, with Lagos State leading the chart at 13.1 million registrations.

 

According to the commission, enrolment figures revealed an almost even distribution between the northern and southern regions of the country.

 

“The highest cumulative enrolment figure of over 13 million was recorded in Lagos State, while regional figures indicated an almost equal spread across the North and the South,” NIMC stated.

 

The top states by enrolment include Lagos (13.1 million), Kano (11.5 million), Kaduna (7.3 million), Ogun (5.1 million), Oyo (4.7 million), and Katsina (4.2 million). Others are the Federal Capital Territory (4.06 million), Rivers (3.6 million), Delta (3.2 million), and Bauchi (3.2 million).

 

States with the lowest enrolment figures are Kwara and Imo (2.09 million each), Yobe (2.08 million), Enugu (2.0 million), and Kogi (1.9 million).

 

Gender data from the commission further indicated that 54.2 million females and 69.7 million males had been captured in the national database as of October 2025.

 

NIMC said the steady growth in enrolment reflects ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity system and improve access to public and private sector services nationwide.
