Police Arrest Four Motorcycle Snatchers, Two Receivers in Kalgo, Recover Three Motorcycles

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four suspected motorcycle snatchers and two alleged receivers of stolen property in Kalgo Local Government Area, recovering three motorcycles in the process.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the breakthrough followed a report by one Aminu Umar of Al’amin Villa, Kalgo, who suspected that four men — Tirmizi Tukur, Abubakar Lauwali, Mudassiru Danbala, and Ibrahim Sani — had conspired to steal his missing unregistered black Haijue motorcycle.

Acting on credible intelligence, detectives attached to Kalgo Divisional Headquarters raided a suspected hideout, where the four suspects were arrested. Two unregistered red Bajaj motorcycles were also recovered. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to stealing the motorcycles from Kajiji village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

In a related development, two alleged receivers of stolen motorcycles, identified as Samaila Abubakar and Isah Muhammad of Tambuwal town, Sokoto State, were also apprehended. One additional red Bajaj motorcycle was recovered from them.

The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation aimed at uncovering the group’s modus operandi and tracking down other members of the syndicate.

Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, praised the Divisional Police Officer, Kalgo, for the professionalism displayed during the arrests. He reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain its onslaught against violent crimes to guarantee safety and security across the state.

The Commissioner also advised commercial motorcyclists to exercise caution over the time, location, and individuals they engage in their daily business.
