Police Launch Search for Kidnapped Kebbi Deputy Speaker

The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo, by armed bandits in Bagudo town, Bagudo Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the incident occurred on Thursday, 31st October 2025, at about 8:20 p.m. when a gang of heavily armed bandits stormed the town and whisked away the 60-year-old lawmaker shortly after he had observed his Isha’i prayers and was heading home.

Following the attack, the statement said, a combined team of police tactical units, military personnel, and vigilantes have been deployed to the area to carry out intensive search and rescue operations. The teams are currently combing suspected routes and nearby forests to ensure the safe rescue of the Deputy Speaker and to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, condemned the abduction and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of the people of Kebbi State. He appealed to the public to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the area.

The police assured that every effort is being made to ensure the safe return of Hon. Bagudo and bring the criminals to justice.
