The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved a major shake-up in the Nigerian Army hierarchy with the posting and appointment of senior officers to strategic command, staff, and instructional positions across formations and units.
The new postings, according to Army Headquarters, are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen command structures, enhance professionalism, and boost operational efficiency in tackling security challenges across the country.
Among the newly appointed senior officers, Brigadier General Sama’ila Uba has been redeployed from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, to Defence Headquarters, Abuja, where he will serve as the new Director of Defence Information.
General Uba, a seasoned officer and public affairs expert, is expected to leverage his vast experience in military communication to enhance the Armed Forces’ public information management and strengthen civil–military relations.
Other key appointments include Major General Bamidele Alabi as Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Jamal Abdulsalam as Chief of Defence Operations, and Major General Peter Mala as Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), among several others.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu charged all the newly appointed officers to bring their professionalism, integrity, and strategic insight to bear in advancing the Nigerian Army’s mission readiness.
He also urged them to sustain operational momentum and deepen inter-agency cooperation in addressing contemporary security threats.
The redeployments take immediate effect.
