Put State First, Governor Idris Tells Citizens

The Kebbi State Government has urged citizens to place the collective interest of the state above personal or political considerations.

Governor Nasir Idris made the appeal in Birnin Kebbi while receiving a delegation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kebbi State chapter, who visited to commiserate with the government over the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Maga.

The Governor praised the ADC delegation for setting politics aside to identify with the government during what he described as a challenging period for the state. He noted that the visit was historic and demonstrated a spirit of unity and shared responsibility.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the ADC, Abdulrazaq Abubakar Isa Iko, said the purpose of the visit was both to sympathise with the government over the abduction and to rejoice over the successful rescue of the 24 students.

He stressed that politics should not be driven by hatred or seen as a do-or-die affair, and commended Governor Idris for the developmental strides recorded by his administration.

Abdulrazaq Isa Iko also disclosed that the ADC currently has no gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 elections, adding that anyone interested in contesting under the party must be a duly registered and committed member.
