The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says Saudi Arabia has reduced the number of Hajj slots reserved for Nigerian pilgrims for the 2026 exercise.
According to a statement by Fatima Sanda Usara, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at NAHCON, the Mashair space allocated to Nigeria on the NUSUK Masar portal has been cut from 95,000 to 66,910 slots.
Of the new figure, 51,513 slots will go to State Pilgrims Welfare Boards and officials, while 15,397 slots will be assigned to licensed Tour Operators.
The disclosure came during a meeting between NAHCON and State Pilgrims Welfare Boards to harmonize the exchange rate for the 2026 Hajj cost and address key operational issues.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, called on States to work in unity to ensure a successful Hajj season and emphasized the importance of medical screening in line with Saudi Arabia’s health regulations.
Commissioner of Operations, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, said future slot allocations would depend on each State’s performance and utilization.
The Commission also reminded States of the December 21 deadline for remittances and urged them to set internal deadlines to meet the national cutoff date.
