Zamfara Governor Dauda Lawal Sets Up Committee for Banditry Victims

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has inaugurated a standing committee to assess, support, and rehabilitate people affected by banditry across the state.

A statement by the Press Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Shehu Adamu, said the committee is mandated to provide immediate interventions and condolences to victims of banditry within 48 hours of any incident.

The committee will also conduct detailed field assessments to determine the scale of damages, the number of victims, and properties destroyed, including infrastructure, farmlands, and other assets.

The committee further tasked with recommending medium and long-term strategies for rehabilitation and prevention of future attacks.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mummuni, has the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bilyaminu Isma’il, as Vice Chairman, with several commissioners as members.

During its inaugural meeting, the Deputy Governor assured that the committee would justify the confidence reposed in it and commended Governor Lawal for prioritising the welfare of victims of insecurity.
